2027 auditions

Tuition is $700 for the entire season. This rate is inclusive of participation in the big band, combo, or both ensembles.

Scholarships for students demonstrating a financial need will be made available by request. No student will be turned down for financial reasons. Please contact the director if there is a need prior to auditioning.

Typically no longer than 10 minutes. Prior to your audition slot, be ready to play with your instrument set up to make our time move efficiently.

Saxophone, trumpet, and trombone: bring your instrument.

Guitar: bring your guitar and a cable. A guitar amp will be provided.

Piano: A grand piano will be provided.

Bass: bring your upright or electric: whichever you are most comfortable playing. Also bring a cable. A bass amp will be provided.

Drums: bring sticks and brushes. A full drum set will be provided.

Improvisation is optional. We enjoy hearing students improvise, and a willingness to do so may provide additional opportunities in our ensembles. However, we encourage students to choose what they feel most comfortable with.

Yes, provided there are openings in the audition schedule. Please remove your name from the previously selected slot after committing to a new time.

Contact the director, Spencer Sussman, and include an explanation as to why you are unavailable. We will coordinate separate day auditions on a case-by-case basis. Preference will be given to students who communicate prior to the audition dates.
